Swimming Pool opening!

15 June 2017 (by admin)

Swimming Pool were delighted to welcome Councillor William Wallace back to officially open our new swimming pool enclosure, on Wednesday 14th June.

After organising a Community Health & Wellbeing Grant of £8000 in 2012, Milborne Port Community pool opening It has been a long old road getting us to where we are today. Fundraising has never stopped and many hurdles had to be overcome. Since receiving this grant, the old poly tunnel was destroyed in storms, the pool had to be re-tiled, the heater and fencing replaced. This was all achieved with the help of many local firms and a team of dedicated volunteers. The new enclosure will help protect our pool, prolong our swimming season and enable the school and community to make use of it whatever the weather. We are also very grateful to the Rotary Club of Sherborne Castles, the Blackmore Vale Lions Club, Sainsbury's (Sherborne), The Kings Command Performance, Milborne Port Parish Council, Commonalty and everyone else who has helped us along the way. The opening was also attended by the school's headmistress, Suzie Milligan, governors, parents and children from the school, people neighbouring the pool, some of the Blackmore Vale Lions and many volunteers from the Swimming Pool Committee who have done so much of the work themselves and who look after the pool and bookings on a daily basis.
